Milind Soman and a team of five ran 1,500 km across four states in 30 days to spread the Green message. They started at Qutab Minar in Delhi at 8.30 am on April 20, 2012. The Green Run route was through Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra, ending in Mumbai. NDTV followed Soman live for 2 km every morning, during which a live update was given by him to viewers. A special Green Run bus followed the team and he also maintained a daily diary, shown on the Greenathon web site. For viewers, Soman had a new green message every day.
Launched in April 2008, the NDTV-Toyota Green campaign was India’s first nationwide television campaign to save the environment. The campaign is aimed at creating awareness about environmental issues by involving the people of the country to make a difference.
