Rajnikant Prataprai Shukla (b March 16, 1937), popularly known as Shukla Dada of Maninagar, Gujarat has a never-ending fascination for the Himalayas. A fervent devotee of Lord Shiva, he has visited the six Kailash shrines in the Himalayas, believed to be among the seven abodes of Shiva, several times since 2004. The arduous trekking pilgrimages included Kailash Manasarovar (6,638 m) thrice, Kinnaur Kailash (6,349 m) thrice, Shrikhand Kailash (5,155 m) twice, Adi Kailash (6,191 m) twice, Manimahesh Kailash (5,653 m) twice and Shri Kailash once. At 75 years, the veteran mountaineer still accompanies groups of pilgrims as their guide, inspiring them with his passion and devotion.
