Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel set a record of planting largest number of saplings in 30 minutes.
On 19 August 2014 in a special tree plantation drive; around two lakh saplings were planted in 30 minutes at all Frontiers, Headquarters, Sector Headquarters, Training Institutions, Battalion Headquarters and all Border Outposts along the Bangladesh border of 4,096 km and Pakistan border of 3,323 Km.
The plantation of saplings is a part of yearly awareness programme ‘Green Mission’ headed by BSF Director General D K Pathak to promote preservation of biodiversity and create awareness about global warming. The green mission would help mend environmental degradation and maintain ecological balance.
